Interior minister orders faster construction, upgraded security arrangements and international-standard facilities while directing officials to protect trees during development work

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave  Tuesday to inspect ongoing development work and review progress on infrastructure and security projects in the high-security area. During the visit, Naqvi observed construction activities and directed officials to accelerate work while maintaining environmental safeguards. He reviewed progress on the boundary wall, redesigned security checkpoints, cycling track and walking track.

Moreover, the minister ordered authorities to continue construction of the boundary wall without interruption. However, he instructed departments to ensure that workers do not cut trees while carrying out development projects.

Naqvi also directed officials to widen roads where required to improve traffic movement and accessibility within the enclave.

Modern Tracks and Parks Planned

Meanwhile, the interior minister instructed authorities to develop cycling and walking tracks according to modern planning standards, providing improved recreational facilities for residents.

He also announced plans to restore and upgrade parks throughout the Diplomatic Enclave.

Naqvi said the government wanted to transform the area into a secure, organised and well-managed diplomatic zone offering improved infrastructure and public spaces.

Furthermore, he directed relevant departments to provide facilities matching international standards for diplomats and other residents.

Revised Security Plan Ordered

Security also remained a major focus during the inspection.

Naqvi directed the Deputy Inspector General Security to prepare a revised and comprehensive security plan for the Diplomatic Enclave. He said authorities should develop arrangements that respond to current security requirements while addressing the operational needs of diplomatic missions and residents.

During a briefing, the Capital Development Authority chairman updated the minister on construction timelines, implementation measures and future development plans.

The Islamabad deputy commissioner and other senior officials also accompanied Naqvi during the inspection.

Authorities will now work on accelerating construction, improving security checkpoints, widening roads and upgrading recreational spaces as part of the broader plan to modernise the Diplomatic Enclave.
