The federal government has decided to immediately release development funds for 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve public services, strengthen governance and address security challenges. The move comes as authorities introduce a special administrative framework for terrorism-affected areas following the imposition of an emergency in the province.
The initiative aims to accelerate development projects while improving law and order in districts facing persistent militant threats. Furthermore, the federal government intends to coordinate development activities with administrative and security measures to improve conditions for local communities.
Special Secretariat To Oversee Development Activities
The government has ordered the establishment of an Area Development Secretariat to oversee development, administration and security-related matters in the designated districts. The arrangement places additional administrative responsibilities under a dedicated structure intended to improve coordination and implementation.
The designated areas include Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan, Upper South Waziristan and Lower South Waziristan.
Authorities expect the new framework to help streamline government operations and ensure development initiatives reach communities affected by insecurity. Meanwhile, officials will need to coordinate funding, project execution and public service delivery to achieve the intended results.
Government Prioritises Security And Public Welfare
The funding decision comes amid growing concerns about terrorism and administrative challenges in several parts of the province. Federal officials have stressed the need to strengthen law enforcement agencies while addressing the development needs of affected populations.
The government has also emphasised better coordination between relevant institutions to restore stability and improve governance. Consequently, the development programme is expected to complement broader efforts to protect citizens and rebuild confidence in public institutions.
However, the impact of the initiative will depend on the timely release of funds, effective oversight and the completion of priority projects. Residents will look for improvements in essential services, infrastructure and economic opportunities as the government implements its plans.
