ISLAMABAD: The federal government today notified Eid holidays for two and three days from June 29, 2023.
According to the notification, offices working five days a week will have two holidays for Eidul Azha (June 29-30). However, offices working six days in a week will enjoy three holidays (June 29 to July 1, 2023).

The cabinet division issued the notification with the approval of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 29
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee today sighted the Zil Hajj moon this evening. Hence, in Pakistan Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday) across the country.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the decision on Monday evening along with members of the committee.
The committee receivedย testimonies of moon-sightingย Karachi, Lahore, and other cities. On Tuesday, the federal government will notify three days of Eid holidays.
Meanwhile, Representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, Department of Meteorology, and Ministry of Science and Technology also attended the meeting on Monday.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee announced the moon-sighting after taking input from zonal committees of Ruet-e-Hilal.
According to the committee, the first Zil Hajj will start on June 20 (Tuesday), and Eid ul Azha will be celebrated in the country on June 29.
Earlier, the Met Office announced the birth of the Zil-Hajj moon on June 18 at 9:37 pm and it will be visible on June 19.
Eidul Azha in Saudi Arabia
On Sunday, Saudi Arabia announced the first day of Zil-Hajj on June 19. The day of Arafah, the holiest in Islam will be observed on Tuesday (June 27). And Saudi Arabia will celebrate the first day of Eid ul Adha on Wednesday (June 28).
After the moon sighting, the federal and provincial governments will notify Eidul Azha holidays tomorrow.
Earlier, finance minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said that the government will issue salaries to its employees on June 23.
