Federal Constitutional Court Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan has called for constitutional supremacy and non-discriminatory justice to remain central priorities in Pakistan’s judicial system.
Speaking at an event marking the beginning of the new judicial year in Islamabad on Tuesday, Justice Khan stressed the importance of constitutional rule and equal access to justice.
He said the Constitution defines the powers and limits of state institutions.
Every exercise of public authority, he added, must remain within constitutional boundaries.
Justice Khan Stresses Equal Access to Justice
Justice Khan described the start of the new judicial year as an opportunity to renew the judiciary’s commitment to delivering justice.
He said access to justice is a fundamental right of every citizen.
The FCC chief justice stressed that constitutional justice must be provided without discrimination.
He said respect for the Constitution is essential for maintaining social stability and protecting the constitutional order.
Justice Khan also highlighted judicial independence as a fundamental requirement for any functioning justice system.
Technology to Improve Judicial Transparency
Justice Khan said modern technology can play an important role in strengthening judicial institutions.
He noted that digital tools can improve institutional capacity and increase transparency in judicial affairs.
The chief justice also pointed to several important judgments delivered by the FCC within a relatively short period.
He said these decisions demonstrated the court’s commitment to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
Justice Khan added that case hearings and appointments were being managed through transparent procedures to promote fairness in judicial proceedings.
FCC Strengthens Engagement With Legal Community
The Federal Constitutional Court was established following the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment in November 2025, which introduced significant changes to Pakistan’s judicial structure.
Justice Khan said cooperation within the judicial sector was being strengthened through foreign visits and other professional activities.
He also welcomed visits by bar associations and legal delegations to the FCC.
Such engagements, he said, were important for improving interaction between the court and the wider legal community.
Justice Khan reaffirmed that the Federal Constitutional Court would continue performing its assigned constitutional responsibilities with determination.
