Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), asserted that the establishment and army in Pakistan were facing blackmail while striving to address the country’s challenges.

Speaking at a workers’ convention in Peshawar, he claimed that the economic crisis in Pakistan was not accidental but a result of governments imposed over the last five years, which, according to him, aimed to undermine the nation’s culture and economy.
Fazlur Rehman criticized nationalist parties for allegedly advocating military operations in the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pointing out their previous calls for such actions.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to merge the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that the move lacked proper planning and a roadmap, leaving people in the tribal areas in uncertain circumstances.
Furthermore, he criticized the government’s failure to fulfill promises, particularly the commitment to disburse Rs100 billion annually to the former FATA regions after the merger.
According to Rehman, despite eight years passing since the merger, the allocated funds had not been adequately released to the area.
