ISLAMABAD: Former bureaucrat Fawad Hassan Fawad has been appointed to the interim cabinet by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday.

President Arif Alvi has approved the appointment under Article 224 (1A) on Premier Kakar’s advice. Throughout his career, Fawad Hasan Fawad held significant and sensitive positions in both Pakistan and abroad.
Before retiring, Fawad’s final role was as the director-general of the Civil Service Academy in Lahore. He also served as the principal secretary to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Additionally, he held key positions as secretary in various offices, including Excise and Taxation, Communication and Works, Health, and S&GAD with the Punjab government. Fawad Hasan also served as Deputy Commissioner in Quetta and Lahore. However, the court acquitted him in February 2023.
Solangi said, “Make the country proud as you always have.” The info minister added that he is “looking forward to work” with Fawad and “tap into” his “rich reservoir of knowledge and experience”.

Meanwhile, the court has extended interim bail until September 26 and issued a notice to the concerned parties for the same date. Furthermore, the court has instructed the NAB investigation officer to attend the next hearing with the case record.
Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi has also declined to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and has submitted a written response regarding her absence.
