In a shocking case of so-called “honour killing,” a man in Rawalpindi shot and killed his teenage daughter after she refused to delete her TikTok account.
The tragic incident took place in the Dhok Chaudhryan Takht Padi area, where the victim, Mehak Shahzadi—a matriculation student—was living with her family.
According to police reports, the father, identified as Akhlaq Ahmed, had repeatedly demanded that Mehak remove her TikTok profile. When she did not comply, he allegedly lost his temper and opened fire, killing her instantly. After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene.
Rawat Police Station registered a murder case against Akhlaq Ahmed on the complaint of Head Constable Shahbaz Anjum. Following the incident, Rawalpindi police assembled three special teams to track down and arrest the suspect.
Later that same day, police confirmed Akhlaq Ahmed had been arrested in Rawat. The weapon used in the crime was recovered, and the suspect was moved to the Rawat Police Station, where an investigation began.
Officers said the suspect was involved in the local real estate business. Initially, the family tried to present the killing as a suicide, but police investigations uncovered the truth, revealing it as a case of premeditated murder.
The operation to capture the accused was led by the Rawat Police Station SHO, the In-charge of the Homicide Unit, and a senior officer, under the overall supervision of SP Saddar.
