At least two people were shot dead in a house near Information Technology University Quetta. The police indicated that the incident appears to stem from a personal feud, and investigations are currently ongoing.
In a separate incident earlier on the same day, there was an explosion targeting the vehicle of the station house officer (SHO) of the Khuzdar Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), resulting in the SHO’s martyrdom.
The blast occurred on Ibrahim Road in Khuzdar, where a bomb had been planted in SHO CTD Khuzdar Muhammad Murad’s vehicle. Quick response from police and security forces, along with the bomb disposal squad, followed the incident. The body of the martyred SHO was transported to the District Headquarters Hospital, as reported by the CTD police spokesperson.
In another distressing event in Quetta, a man named Aurangzeb killed his 16-year-old wife amid a domestic dispute. The victim, Nargis, had married Aurangzeb in January, making her his third wife. According to the father of the deceased girl, Obaidullah, Nargis had been subjected to mistreatment by her mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Aurangzeb was arrested by the police, who confiscated a pistol from him. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Affirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Protecting Human Rights
The Caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, reiterated on Sunday the dedication to safeguarding and advancing human rights, emphasizing that it is both a constitutional duty and a guiding principle in Pakistan.
In his message marking the International Day of Human Rights, he highlighted the influence of Pakistan’s democratic traditions, civil society, media, and legal institutions in reinforcing their steadfast commitment to the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
On this Human Rights Day, Pakistan aligns with the global community in honoring the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR), stated the foreign minister. He expressed that the declaration has been a source of inspiration for ongoing efforts to “promote universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

The foreign minister welcomed the theme of this year’s International Day for Human Rights, “Freedom, equity, and justice,” emphasizing Pakistan’s participation in celebrating the progress made in realizing these shared ideals.
