Emotional Reunion at Karachi zoo: Lion and Owner Back Together

Emotional Reunion

The lion, which had refused to eat for two days, prompted the owner, Abdullah, to visit Karachi Zoo on Friday. The lion had been placed in a cage after escaping from Abdullah’s vehicle on August 29. Upon spotting his owner, the lion hugged Abdullah, who proceeded to feed the lion inside the cage.

The provincial wildlife department had booked Abdullah and four others when the lion escaped from their vehicle and roamed on Shahrah-e-Faisal near Ayesha Bawani College.

The wildlife department accused the suspects of illegally transporting the lion and a turtle in a car. Fortunately, the lion’s escape did not result in any harm to the public, except for a minor incident where it attacked a man who remained safe.

The lion’s refusal to eat while under zoo management’s care led to a two-day hunger strike.

Consequently, the zoo management requested Abdullah to visit the lion at the zoo. After successfully feeding the lion, the management asked Abdullah to continue visiting the zoo daily to feed the lion. This was such an emotional reunion of lion and owner.

In another incident, a leopard was sighted inside Islamabad’s Quaid-e-Azam University, causing fear among students and staff.

Wildlife department officials responded to the report of a staff member who had spotted the animal in the bushes. Despite conducting a search operation, the leopard was not sighted again and was likely to have returned to its den.
