COAS Asim Munir Advocates UN and Security Council Involvement in Kashmir Issue

During a high-level meeting focused on reviewing preparations for the upcoming ministerial meeting of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir called upon the United Nations (UN) and the Security Council to take an active role in resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue.

General Asim Munir participated as a special guest in the concluding session of the meeting, which was jointly organized by Pakistan and Japan and centered on the protection and security of peacekeeping missions.

The event included delegates from various countries and members of the diplomatic community, along with senior officials from the United Nations.

Addressing the gathering, General Asim Munir emphasized the growing challenges and threats faced by peacekeeping forces worldwide. He also praised the pivotal role played by the United Nations in restoring global peace and stability.

In his speech, General Asim Munir conveyed Pakistan’s vision for the region, emphasizing the desire for a peaceful, prosperous region marked by trade, transit, and investment. He emphasized that this vision should encompass all states in South, West, and Central Asia.

Furthermore, COAS General Asim Munir underscored the vital role that both the Security Council and the United Nations must play in resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue, which has been a source of tension between India and Pakistan for decades.

He urged international involvement to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the conflict, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and prosperity.
