ISLAMABAD: The anti-corruption authorities have initiated proceedings against former Chakwal Naib Tehsildar Najaf Hameed Khan. He is the brother of retired General Faiz Hameed, the former Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Najaf Hameed Khan is being investigated for alleged misappropriation of land transfer fees during his tenure in Chakwal. The anti-corruption department has launched a thorough investigation into the matter. Evidence has reportedly emerged indicating irregularities amounting to hundreds of millions of rupees in Chakwal. These irregularities involve embezzlement in excise duty, registry fees, and withholding tax deductions.
The investigation has revealed discrepancies in land transfer fees at the land record centers of five mauzas (areas) in Chakwal. An audit of land transfer fees for nine mauzas has also been initiated. The investigation spans all land transfers from June 2021 to February 2023. It was noted that the fee challans for over 60 land transfers were missing from the records during this period.
During the investigation, it has been found that five land record officials deposited Rs 2 million from the embezzled land transfer fees. Najaf Hameed Khan held the position of naib tehsildar in Chakwal but was removed from his post in February of the current year. The anti-corruption authorities are actively pursuing the case to uncover any wrongdoing. They aim to take appropriate actions based on the findings of the investigation.
