Pakistan will take part in its scheduled T20 World Cup clash against India on February 15, sources confirmed. This marks a reversal of the earlier boycott decision, following a request from Sri Lanka.
The decision came after a phone call between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. During the discussion, the Sri Lankan president asked Pakistan to play the match against India in Sri Lanka.

No Penalty for Bangladesh Cricket Board
The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that it will not impose any financial, sporting, or administrative penalties on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after the national teamโs absence from the T20 World Cup 2026. The ICC emphasized neutrality, fairness, and support for cricket development in South Asia.
The ICC also reaffirmed Bangladeshโs role as a valued Full Member with a rich cricketing history. The board retains the right to approach the Dispute Resolution Committee under ICC regulations if it chooses. Furthermore, Bangladesh will host an ICC event before the 2031 Cricket World Cup, subject to standard hosting processes.
ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta said that while Bangladeshโs absence was regrettable, the ICC remains committed to its long-term cricket development and player opportunities.
