With the much-awaited Abir Gulaal just weeks away from release, stars Vaani Kapoor and Fawad Khan are turning up the heat with their spirited promotional appearances. During a lively Instagram Live on Monday, the duo gave fans a peek into their off-screen camaraderie while teasing details about the upcoming film.
Khan shared his thoughts on working with Kapoor. “It was amazing working with Vaani; it’s been an incredible experience,” he said during the stream. Kapoor playfully chimed in, admitting she may have “tortured” him. Laughing, Khan replied, “I’m lying, of course. It’s been an absolute pleasure!” He went on to call her “a very good human and a gem of a person,” leaving fans collectively swooning.
When asked if Abir Gulaal would be an intense love story, Kapoor clarified, “It’s a feel-good, lighthearted love story.” Both actors revealed their favorite track from the film is Khudaya Ishq.
Kapoor, known for her roles in Befikre and Shuddh Desi Romance, lit up when asked about working with Khan. “One of a kind. I’m getting greedy, but I hope I get this opportunity again someday,” she gushed. She praised Khan’s talent and humility, saying, “He’s so easy, no ego, no hassle. He’s gifted, so you feel like you have to level up.”
In a touching moment, Kapoor shared a behind-the-scenes insight: “One thing I haven’t said in all the interviews today — I love how organically you deliver your lines. It never feels rehearsed or performative.” Khan returned the compliment, calling her spontaneous and authentic with her dialogue delivery.
When asked if Abir Gulaal shared similarities with Shuddh Desi Romance, Kapoor pointed out, “The only similarity is that my characters in both films are from Jaipur. But they’re very different people.”
Discussing their favorite scenes (without giving away spoilers), Kapoor mentioned a moment where her character Gulaal teaches Khan’s Abir some Gen-Z slang. “His Gen-Z lingo in real life also needs brushing up,” she joked, before testing him with the term “jomo.” Khan proudly answered, “Joy of missing out!” earning a delighted “Well done!” from Kapoor.
Asked once more about working with Khan, Kapoor didn’t hold back: “I got lucky, yaar. What else do I say? I got lucky with the film and with a great co-actor.” She praised their on-screen chemistry, attributing it to a natural connection. “It didn’t feel forced at all—I genuinely enjoyed it.”
Kapoor also teased Khan’s saint-like patience, laughing, “He has some patience to take my b******t because I yap a lot, chapad chapad. He’s a good listener!”
