Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently received a death threat via phone, leading to a case being registered at Mumbai’s Bandra Police Station.
The threat allegedly originated from a man named Faizan in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, who called the Bandra Police Station’s landline on November 5, demanding a ransom of five million INR and threatening harm if the demand wasn’t met. Following the call, a Mumbai Police team was dispatched to Raipur to investigate the matter further.
“A call was received at Bandra police station, threatening Shah Rukh Khan and requesting five million INR. An offence has been registered, though no arrests have been made yet,” confirmed a senior police official. A case has been filed against an unidentified individual at Bandra Police Station under sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) BNS, though further details are still pending.
Khan has been under heightened security since 2023, following the immense success of his films Pathaan and Jawan and the subsequent threats he received. In October, he was granted Y+ security, which he has maintained to address these ongoing risks. Due to security concerns, he reportedly avoided greeting fans outside his residence, Mannat, on his birthday this year, although his team has not officially confirmed this.
Khan has yet to make a public statement regarding the recent threat.
Khan’s close friend and fellow Bollywood actor Salman Khan has faced similar threats. He received a recent death threat from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, linked to his involvement in the blackbuck poaching case. Salman, too, has been provided Y+ security for his protection.
These threats come in the wake of the assassination of political leader Baba Siddique, for which a member of Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility. The gang also issued warnings against Salman Khan in the same statement. Both actors, along with the Mumbai Police, are taking substantial security measures in response.
