The recent nude photoshoot of Indian actor Ranveer Singh received a great deal of attention online, and as is customary, internet users responded with memes. Even when the laughter has subsided, it seems that not everyone has moved on. The actor was reported to the Mumbai police for “hurting the sensibilities of ladies” by publishing the images online.
As reported by The Hindustan Times on Monday, an official with the non-profit group Shyam Mangaram Foundation requested the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the Bollywood star. The accuser alleged that the actor’s images offended the “sentiments” of women and made fun of their modesty.
“Last week we observed several nude images being clicked in such a manner that any male or female would feel ashamed about it,” said the complaint, emphasizing the need to aggressively condemn such activities.
The complaint was filed at the Chembur police station, and the complainant requested that a case be registered against the 83 actors for violations of the Information Technology Act and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
On Monday, we got a job application from someone working for a non-governmental organization. For the time being, no FIR has been filed. An officer stated, “We are investigating.” to the ANI news agency.
