Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil, renowned for her powerful performances and humanitarian efforts, recently shared a lighthearted and unexpected story from her teenage years involving former Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan.
During a podcast appearance, Nadia reminisced about an incident from her youth when she was out on a drive with her then-boyfriend, now-husband, Ali Pervaiz. As they were enjoying music, their car was suddenly stopped by a squad of police officers from President Zia-ul-Haq’s special force, notorious for questioning couples and demanding Nikkah Namas (marriage certificates).
Panicked, Nadia called her uncle, Yousaf Salahuddin, for help, trying to avoid involving her father. However, she didn’t realize that her father was at the same gathering where Yousaf was hosting guests. To her surprise, a group of five people arrived at the police station to help her—including Imran Khan, her uncle, and her father.
The police, starstruck by the presence of the 1992 World Cup-winning cricketer, served him tea before quickly releasing Nadia and Ali without further incident.
Years later, Imran Khan jokingly remarked to Nadia: “You’re a good kid—you actually married that boy.”
The amusing tale not only offers a glimpse into Nadia’s youthful anxiety but also highlights Imran Khan’s unexpected role in rescuing the day.
