Esteemed Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal, diagnosed with cancer in December 2022, has revealed that he has chosen to live in isolation after his recovery, distancing himself from his family.
“I decided to leave my family after recovering because I didn’t want them to suffer because of my condition,” Jamal shared in an interview with YouTuber Ambreen Fatima.
Known for his iconic roles in classic television dramas such as Waris, Manchalay Ka Sauda, Sayebaan Seeshey Ka, Anaa, and Pyare Afzal, Jamal expressed that he believes his absence has brought peace to his family. “Sometimes, you can be a source of pain for others, and I wanted to avoid that. My children are settled and thriving on their own,” he added.
He discussed how his family has reacted to his choice to live apart, stating, “I think my family is quite peaceful without me. I have always preferred solitude, and I don’t want to be a burden to anyone.”
Jamal also addressed the ongoing ban from Hum TV due to some controversial remarks he made about the acting industry. Despite this setback, he maintains a strong faith in divine provision. “Hum TV or anyone else is not the provider for mankind. Allah is the one who grants sustenance, and I have continued to receive work, success, and respect,” he affirmed.
The veteran actor reiterated his commitment to his previous opinions about the industry. “I stand by my views because I expressed what I genuinely felt. I don’t hide my feelings; my children or others may have different perspectives, but I can only speak for myself. I’m not one to conceal my thoughts or emotions.”
