On the third Episode of her podcast Archetypes, Meghan Markle discussed some of her childhood favourites.
Meghan mentioned on Mindy Kaling’s show that she adored the Archie comic books.
My son is not named after Archie comic books, but I adored them, Markle swiftly chimed in as Kaling mentioned how much she enjoyed reading Archie comics as well. She gathered “all of them,” including the spin-offs, in fact. Hmm. Maybe the lady protests too much. Markle acknowledged with a chuckle, “And I like the name Archie,” to which Kaling slyly remarked, “You like red-heads,” alluding to both the comic book character and her own spouse Prince Harry.
She noted that her son Archie’s name was not inspired by any of these, though. When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry named their oldest child back in 2019, they defied royal tradition. They chose Archie rather than searching through the conventional archives of royal names that have been passed down through the ages. Not Archibald and Archie, to be precise. just Archie Similar to the Archie comic books Markle reportedly adored as a child in southern California. Coincidence? The Duchess of Sussex claims that there is no relationship.
