Angelina Jolie stars as Maria Callas in the upcoming biopic Maria and has drawn some intriguing comparisons between herself and her character. In a recent interview with Hello Magazine, the 49-year-old actress reflected on the “certain loneliness” they share, stemming from their deep commitment to their careers.
Jolie expressed, “I may be many things, but I’m a very hard worker. I’m an imperfect person, but I work very hard, and so does she.” She noted that both she and Maria might see themselves primarily as performers dedicated to their craft, suggesting they can be quite hard on themselves.
Teaming up with director Pablo Larraín, Jolie is set to portray the iconic 20th-century opera singer. Maria will hit limited theaters in the US on November 27 and will be released in UK cinemas on January 10, 2025.
