Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh is granted a name change

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has been granted permission to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie.

Originally named Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, Shiloh petitioned to drop her father’s last name on her 18th birthday in May.

After a slight delay caused by an incomplete background check, the court has now approved her request.

Shiloh’s lawyer, Peter Levine, explained to People magazine that the initial hearing was postponed due to the incomplete background check, but it was rescheduled and resolved on August 19.

Angelina Jolie, 49, and Brad Pitt, 60, have six children, with Shiloh being their third-born. Their other children are Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.

Although Pitt was aware of Shiloh’s decision to drop his surname, a source close to him revealed that he is upset by the change. The source noted that the situation serves as a painful reminder of the estrangement between Pitt and his children.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” the source said.

“The reminders that he’s lost his children are, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them.”

Shiloh’s decision reflects a broader trend among young adults asserting their independence and establishing their own identities, even when it involves making significant personal changes, such as distancing themselves from their famous parents.
