They tied the knot virtually after the woman’s visa application was unsuccessful.
ISLAMABAD: Another cross-border marriage story involving Ameena from Karachi, Pakistan, who married an Indian man named Arbaaz is reported. Ameena now joins the list of Seema Haider and Anju in such unique unions.
After the Pakistani woman’s unsuccessful attempt to obtain an Indian visa for their marriage, they got married virtually.
Arbaaz, residing in Jodhpur city, Rajasthan, has family ties with Ameena’s family in Pakistan. According to the reports, a member of Arbaaz’s family was already married to a girl from Pakistan.
Arbaaz’s father, Mohammad Afzal said, “A grandson of mine is a chartered accountant, who is married to a girl from Pakistan. Seeing their happiness, Ameena’s family asked our son’s hand in marriage, which we accepted.”
Afzal mentioned that the ceremony was kept simple even though it was a virtual wedding. Arbaaz arrived at Jodhpur’s Oswal Samaj Bhawan with his procession.
The groom, who was a desktop publishing operator (DTP), also stated that Armeena would initiate the visa application process.
“I didn’t marry in Pakistan as it would not be recognized and we would have to remarry on reaching India,” he said. Further he added that a bride from Pakistan does not get an Indian visa to get married.
He said, “Hence, we got married online and obtained a certificate from the cleric, which is legal.”
