Alia Bhatt talked about how she has to deal with casual sexism and how she has been getting random sexist comments in Bollywood for a long time.
Alia said that when she first heard those comments, she didn’t realize they were sexist, but she found out later. She also said that it bothers her when people say things like that.
When asked if she had experienced casual sexism in Bollywood like other women producers and actors, the star of “Student of the Year” said, “I think I have from time to time. I would often not notice it. When I think about it now, when I’m much more aware of it, it just makes sense to say “Oh my god, that was such a sexist comment” or that I was the target of extreme misogyny at that time. Because of this, I am much more sensitive now. My friends sometimes ask me, “What’s wrong with you? Why are you getting so mean?”
She went on to say, “But it’s not about that. It’s just random things like, “Don’t be so sensitive, you’re being so sensitive, are you having PMS?” I’m not trying to be sensitive, and if I’m having PMS, so what? You came into the world because women had PMS. I find it so annoying when people say things that don’t make sense. It’s not important.”
On the work front, Alia is getting ready for the release of the first film she produced, Darlings, which is set to come out on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
