Indian actor Alia Bhatt recently took to social media to confront trolls who have body-shamed her for her “crooked smile,” “weird way of speaking,” and alleged cosmetic surgery.
In a lengthy note shared on Friday, she responded firmly to the accusations and rumors surrounding her appearance.
“Absolutely, NO JUDGEMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery your body, your choice.
But wow, this is beyond ridiculous,” Alia wrote. She addressed the circulating videos claiming she had “Botox gone wrong,” emphasizing the absurdity of such statements.
“This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. Now you’re confidently tossing around ‘scientific’ explanations, claiming I’m paralyzed on one side? Are you kidding me?” she added.
Alia expressed her concern over the serious nature of these unfounded claims, warning that they could mislead young, impressionable audiences. She questioned the motives behind these harsh judgments, suggesting they might be driven by a desire for attention or clickbait.
Alia also highlighted the unrealistic standards imposed on women, pointing out that they are often subjected to harsh scrutiny regarding their looks and personal lives. Instead of celebrating individuality, society tends to criticize and objectify women online, creating harmful pressures to conform.
Furthermore, she noted that much of this judgment comes from other women, questioning why there isn’t more support among them. Alia lamented the normalization of such behavior, advocating for a “live and let live” mentality.
She criticized the entertainment industry for perpetuating these unrealistic expectations through fabricated narratives, calling for a shift towards greater acceptance and support for each other’s choices.
