England have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with several changes.
Harry Brook will lead the side, while Adil Rashid and Sam Curran return after recovering from their respective injuries. However, England have rested Jofra Archer as part of their workload management plans.
Rashid missed England’s recent ODI series against Sri Lanka because of a hand injury. Meanwhile, Curran returns after undergoing groin surgery in August.
England Introduce Three Uncapped Players
England have included three uncapped players, with Mason Crane, James Coles and Henry Crocombe earning places in the squad. Crane returns to the international setup eight years after his last appearance during the 2017-18 Ashes series.
National selector Marcus North praised Crane’s consistent performances for Glamorgan across formats. Sussex pair Coles and Crocombe could now make their ODI debuts after previously joining England’s white-ball squads.
England will also miss Jos Buttler, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained against Sri Lanka last month. Brendon McCullum will oversee a rotated coaching staff featuring Jeetan Patel, Mike Yardy, David Saker and Carl Hopkinson.
Tri-Series To Feature Seven Matches
Kevin Pietersen will not travel to Pakistan despite recently becoming England’s specialist white-ball mentor. He is expected to return during England’s tour of Australia in November.
The tri-series will run from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Each team will face the other twice before the top two sides meet in the final.
Pakistan will open against Sri Lanka on October 18 before facing England two days later. The tournament will then move to Lahore, with the final scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
