ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the election code of conduct, which stipulates that both local and foreign media and commentators must refrain from displaying bias or expressing preferences for any political party or candidate.

While releasing preliminary results, it should be noted that these results are unofficial and incomplete, and they will only be considered final when declared by the returning officer.
As per the code of conduct, national media will uphold Pakistan’s ideology and sovereignty during the election campaign, refraining from broadcasting biased opinions that may undermine the independence and integrity of security, the judiciary, and other national institutions.
In cases where one candidate accuses another, both sides must confirm allegations. PEMRA, PTA, PID, and the Digital Wing of the Ministry of Information will actively monitor the coverage of political parties and candidates.
The election media campaign will conclude 48 hours before the election day. International media and observers are advised to submit their visa applications promptly, as overstaying beyond the visa period will not be allowed.
The code of conduct mandates respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty, individual freedoms, and fundamental rights. Observers are expected to ensure their observations and reporting remain impartial, objective, and accurate. International media personnel and observers must refrain from wearing the insignia or colors of any political party.
Similarly, in accordance with the code of conduct, national observers are also required to respect national sovereignty and the fundamental rights of individuals. They must show respect for the country’s culture and traditions, and any violation may lead to the cancellation of their accreditation.
