Pakistan’s security forces killed eight suspected militants during three intelligence-based operations in Balochistan. The operations took place in Quetta, Nushki, and Khuzdar districts.
According to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations occurred on October 17, 2026.
The military identified the militants as members of groups it described as Indian-backed. However, the statement did not provide independent evidence of foreign involvement.
Five Militants Killed in Quetta Operation
Security forces launched an operation after militants reportedly attempted to block a road in Quetta’s Panjpai area.
The armed suspects allegedly planned to disrupt traffic and threaten public safety.
Security personnel intercepted the group and killed five militants during the operation.
Meanwhile, authorities launched another operation in Nushki district.
Troops discovered a suspected militant hideout and engaged armed men in a gunfight.
The operation killed two militants. Security personnel also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
Security Forces Recover 490 Kilograms of Explosives
In a separate intelligence-based operation, security forces targeted another suspected militant hideout in Khuzdar district.
The operation killed one militant and led to the recovery of 490 kilograms of explosives.
ISPR said security teams continued clearance operations to locate any remaining suspects.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to counterterrorism efforts under the national security campaign approved through Pakistan’s National Action Plan.
Officials said security forces would continue operations against armed groups threatening peace and stability.
The latest operations highlight ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where authorities continue efforts to prevent militant attacks.
