Gas pipeline blast triggers deadly blaze
At least eight members of a single family lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at the Hattar Industrial Estate in Haripur on Thursday, officials confirmed. The incident also left five others injured, raising concerns over industrial safety measures in the area.
According to District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur, the fire erupted after a gas pipeline burst within the industrial estate. Consequently, flames spread rapidly, engulfing nearby structures and trapping victims before they could escape.
Authorities stated that the victims belonged to the same family, intensifying the tragedy. Meanwhile, emergency services responded promptly to contain the blaze and rescue survivors.
Emergency response and rescue efforts
Soon after the explosion, police, rescue teams, and fire brigade units from five districts rushed to the scene. They coordinated efforts to control the fire and prevent further damage. In addition, medical teams provided immediate assistance to the injured.
Rescuers transported the victims to nearby healthcare facilities for treatment and identification. Officials confirmed that five bodies were taken to Kot Najibullah hospital, while three others were shifted to a trauma centre. The injured individuals are currently receiving medical care.
Furthermore, authorities have launched an initial assessment to determine the extent of damage and the circumstances surrounding the pipeline burst. Investigators are expected to examine safety protocols at the industrial site.
