Pakistan’s IT Exports Surge by 34.9%, Cross $1.2 Billion in Four Months

IT Exports

Pakistan’s IT exports achieved a historic milestone, recording a remarkable 34.9% growth during the first four months of the current financial year, surpassing $1.2 billion.

Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, shared these figures, attributing the success to the government’s efforts in fostering the IT sector’s growth.

Providing a comparison to the previous year, Shaza Fatima stated that IT exports for the same period in 2023 stood at $891 million.

This year, they exceeded that figure by more than $300 million by October. She further highlighted that October 2024 alone witnessed a 38.6% year-on-year growth in IT exports, rising to $230 million compared to October 2023.

The minister emphasized the government’s proactive approach in promoting the IT industry. She noted that numerous initiatives were underway, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

These efforts aim to foster innovation, develop infrastructure, and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness in global markets. “All institutions are working diligently with full support from the SIFC to sustain this momentum and further expand Pakistan’s footprint in the global IT market,” she stated.

This impressive performance in IT exports reflects the broader upward trend in Pakistan’s overall export growth.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported that the country’s total exports for the first four months of the fiscal year grew by 13.55%, reaching $10.88 billion. This marked an increase of $1.29 billion compared to the same period last year.

The surge in IT exports and the broader export sector highlights Pakistan’s potential to capitalize on global markets through innovation and strategic policymaking.

With consistent efforts to support key industries, the country is paving the way for sustainable economic growth and enhanced international presence in the IT domain.
