Pakistan and Russia are set to enhance trade by improving banking channels between two countries

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the substantial potential for cooperation between Russia and Pakistan across various sectors during a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, in Islamabad today.

He conveyed his best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin and extended an invitation for a future visit to Pakistan.

The discussions focused on enhancing banking channels to boost trade and investment, as well as establishing a comprehensive roadmap for economic collaboration.

PM Shehbaz highlighted that recent visits by Russian leaders signal a positive trend in strengthening bilateral relations. He expressed optimism that the upcoming Pakistan-Russia Joint Commission meeting in December would provide a vital opportunity to expand cooperation further.

In a separate meeting with Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Matviyenko reiterated Russia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in various fields, including trade, investment, and diplomacy.

She stressed the importance of fostering diplomatic, economic, commercial, and parliamentary relations.

Matviyenko also underscored Russia’s high regard for its relationship with Pakistan, noting that strengthened parliamentary ties would facilitate trade and investment while promoting closer connections between the two nations’ peoples.

Gillani remarked that Matviyenko’s visit would significantly enhance bilateral ties and contribute to regional peace, development, and prosperity.

He expressed appreciation for Russia’s support in Pakistan’s infrastructural development and advancements in the oil and gas sectors, highlighting the mutual benefits of collaboration.
