ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will meet today under Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb to consider several key economic proposals.
The ECC will review a seven-point agenda covering economic matters and development projects. Among the proposals, officials will consider Rs12.61 billion for bulletproof vehicles.
The vehicles will support security arrangements for heads of state attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The government plans to purchase the vehicles specifically for the high-profile event.
Meanwhile, the committee will also consider determining the basic price of tobacco. The decision could affect farmers, processors and other stakeholders across the tobacco sector.
Donkey Meat Exports and Development Funds
Several proposals concerning donkey meat and skin exports to China will also come before the committee. Officials will examine the proposals during the meeting.
Additionally, the ECC will consider a plan to operationalize two fertilizer factories in Punjab. The initiative aims to support fertilizer availability and agricultural requirements.
The committee will also review a request for a Rs5 billion supplementary grant for the Daanish Schools System.
Furthermore, members will examine the prices of essential commodities during the meeting. The review will focus on basic items and their affordability for consumers.
The ECC plays an important role in reviewing financial proposals and economic decisions before the government takes further action.
The meeting is expected to cover all seven agenda items and assess their financial implications. Decisions taken by the committee could influence several sectors, including agriculture, education, trade and public administration.
