ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) today approved financial support and development measures, including Rs 13 billion for the Pakistan Television (PTV). Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired the ECC meeting.
The decisions focused on strengthening public institutions and advancing major infrastructure projects.
The committee approved the release of Rs13 billion for Pakistan Television during the current financial year. Moreover, PTV will receive Rs3.25 billion every quarter under the approved funding schedule. Officials said the financial support will help the state-owned broadcaster maintain its operations.
Meanwhile, the ECC instructed the relevant authorities to submit a comprehensive financial sustainability plan for PTV within two months. The proposed roadmap will aim to improve the broadcaster’s long-term financial health and reduce future fiscal pressures.
Furthermore, the committee approved financial assistance for the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway project. The decision supports the government’s broader strategy to improve national transport infrastructure and regional connectivity.
In addition, the ECC approved sovereign guarantees worth Rs27.62 billion for the M-12 Motorway project. It also endorsed the operational Viability Gap Funding rollover of Rs6.944 billion for the same project.
According to the official announcement, the M-12 Motorway will be developed under the public-private partnership model. Consequently, the government expects greater private sector participation in infrastructure development while improving transport networks and supporting long-term economic growth across the country.
