Rs. 1 Billion Approved for National Food Safety Authority
In a major policy move, the committee approved Rs. 1 billion for the operationalization of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA).
The authority is expected to strengthen Pakistanโs agricultural regulatory framework and improve food safety monitoring nationwide.
Officials said the initiative will help modernize food inspection systems, improve export compliance standards, and support agricultural trade growth.
The project also aims to improve coordination between regulatory bodies responsible for food quality and public health standards.
Government officials believe the authority will play a key role in improving Pakistanโs agricultural competitiveness in international markets.
The ECC emphasized that stronger food safety systems are necessary for consumer protection and long-term economic stability.
Billions Allocated for Youth Skills and Healthcare Programs
The committee also approved major development spending for youth empowerment and healthcare initiatives.
A total of Rs. 3.915 billion was allocated for the Prime Ministerโs Youth Skill Development Program through the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).
Officials stated that the program aims to equip young people with technical and vocational skills needed for employment opportunities in domestic and international markets.
The government hopes the initiative will improve workforce readiness and reduce unemployment among youth.
In the healthcare sector, the ECC approved Rs. 1.5 billion for the National Health Program, previously known as the Sehat Sahulat Programme.
The funding will support expanded healthcare coverage and improve access to medical services for citizens across the country.
Meanwhile, education authorities briefed the committee about ongoing school beautification and classroom improvement campaigns nationwide.
Officials reported active participation from teachers and students in creating more engaging learning environments through artwork, displays, and educational decoration projects.
The government said such initiatives are designed to improve educational spaces and encourage student creativity and participation.
