A fire broke out near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi after a reported drone strike triggered an emergency response in the Al Dhafra region.
However, authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident. Officials also said radiation levels remained normal throughout the situation.
The incident quickly drew international attention because the Barakah facility is one of the regionโs most important nuclear energy sites. Despite concerns, officials stressed that the plantโs core systems continued operating safely.
Fire Reported Outside Barakah Nuclear Facility
Authorities said the fire started in an electrical generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
According to officials, the blaze erupted after a drone strike targeted the area. Emergency teams immediately responded to contain the fire and secure the surrounding zone.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office stated, โAuthorities in Abu Dhabi responded to a fire incident that broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region, caused by a drone strike.โ
Officials added that emergency crews managed the situation without major complications. Moreover, no casualties or injuries were reported.
No Radiation Threat Detected
Authorities moved quickly to reassure residents and the international community after the incident.
Officials confirmed that the fire did not affect nuclear operations or radiation safety levels at the facility. As a result, the plant continued functioning normally after the attack.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office stated, โNo injuries were reported, and there was no impact on radiological safety levels.โ
Meanwhile, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation also released an update regarding the situation. The authority confirmed that all essential systems remained fully operational.
โThe Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the power plant or the readiness of its essential systems, and that all units are operating as normal,โ the statement added.
Authorities Launch Assessment After Drone Strike
Security agencies and emergency responders continued assessing the incident following the fire.
Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the origin of the drone or the circumstances surrounding the strike. However, authorities maintained that the situation remained under control.
