Punjab Police foiled drone attacks targeting the Lakhani and Hazrat Umer Farooq checkposts in the Jhangi area of Taunsa on Friday.
According to police, terrorists dropped four bombs from drones during the attack. Two bombs landed inside the Lakhani checkpoint, while the remaining two fell outside the police post.
One policeman sustained injuries during the drone attack at the Lakhani police picket. Police officials immediately responded to the assault and retaliated against the attackers.
Police Launch Search Operation
Following the exchange of fire, the attackers escaped from the area. Police subsequently cordoned off the surrounding region and launched a search operation to locate and apprehend those involved.
Security personnel also intensified surveillance around the targeted checkpoints following the incident. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify the attackers and determine the full circumstances of the assault.
The drone attack has raised fresh security concerns in Taunsa, particularly around police positions that have previously faced militant threats. Officials have not yet provided further details about the extent of damage caused by the bombs.
Two Policemen Martyred In June Attack
The Lakhani checkpoint had previously come under attack on June 15, 2026. Two policemen were martyred in the terrorist assault at the same checkpost.
The latest incident has renewed attention on security arrangements around police posts in the area. Police have continued search and security operations following Friday’s drone attack.
