Three Suspects Arrested During Ongoing Investigation
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Dr Akash, as investigators continue to examine how the crime was allegedly planned and carried out.
According to police officials, the detained suspects provided statements during interrogation describing the gangโs structure, the role of its alleged leader and the distribution of stolen money after the incident.
Investigators identified the suspected gang leader as Aslam, also known as โBaba,โ a resident of Quaidabad. Police claim Aslam supervised the operation and coordinated with other members of the group.
On the day of the incident, Aslam was allegedly travelling in a car with several accomplices, including a woman. The vehicle was reportedly used to follow Dr Akashโs car before the attack was carried out.
Police are now attempting to establish the role played by each suspect. Investigators are also searching for other alleged members of the group who may have participated in planning, surveillance or execution of the crime.
Suspects Describe How Stolen Money Was Shared
Police said the detained suspects revealed that the stolen cash was divided among the gang members immediately after the incident.
One of the accused allegedly received Rs125,000 as his share. Investigators claim he transferred the entire amount online to his brother, Kishore, who was living in the suspectโs native village.
Police are examining the digital transaction as possible evidence in the case. Financial records may help investigators trace the movement of the stolen money and identify any additional individuals connected to the proceeds.
Another suspect, identified as Ram Chand, reportedly received Rs70,000 from the stolen amount. Police said he used Rs30,000 to pay outstanding rent to his landlord.
Ram Chand is said to be a resident of Quaidabad. He lives as a tenant in a property owned by a man identified as Farman.
Investigators are expected to verify the suspectsโ statements by examining transaction records, mobile phone data, surveillance footage and other available evidence.
Alleged Gang Formed After Jail Meeting
During interrogation, Ram Chand reportedly told police that he first met Aslam in Landhi Jail in 2021.
The two allegedly became acquainted while serving time in prison. Police believe the group was later formed through contacts established during their detention.
Investigators claim that the suspects continued working together after their release and became involved in robberies targeting people carrying money from banks.
Police also said Ram Chand admitted that the gang had participated in three bank-related robberies during July. Authorities are now reviewing unsolved cases to determine whether the same group may have been involved.
The suspects could also be questioned about the vehicles, weapons and communication methods allegedly used during those robberies.
Police are investigating whether the group received information about victims before following them from banks. Any possible assistance from additional individuals will form part of the continuing inquiry.
The statements attributed to the suspects remain part of the police investigation. They have not yet been independently verified or tested before a court.
Under the law, the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty through judicial proceedings.
