Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026 in Vietnam. She secured the prestigious title after competing against more than 100 contestants worldwide.
The ceremony took place in Nha Trang, where contestants completed several stages throughout the competition. These rounds assessed their personalities, communication skills, social initiatives and commitment to important causes.
Dominguez Makes Pageant History
Dominguez progressed through the preliminary stages before reaching the final group of contestants. She eventually claimed the crown and delivered a historic victory for the Dominican Republic.
Spain’s Elisabeth Reynes finished as the first runner-up in the competition. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Taanuisya Chetty secured the second runner-up position.
Dominguez became only the second Dominican woman to win the Miss World title. Her victory comes 44 years after Mariasela Álvarez claimed the crown for the country in 1982.
The long gap between the two victories made Dominguez’s achievement particularly significant. Supporters in the Dominican Republic and communities abroad celebrated her historic success.
Miss World Reign Focuses on Social Causes
Throughout the competition, Dominguez received recognition for her social initiatives and charitable efforts. Her journey reflected the Miss World organisation’s long-running “Beauty With a Purpose” campaign.
The initiative encourages contestants to use their platforms to highlight social issues. It also promotes community support, charitable projects and greater awareness of important causes.
Dominguez succeeds Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri, who held the Miss World title after winning in 2025. The Dominican star will now represent her country internationally during her year-long reign.
Her victory also strengthens the Dominican Republic’s presence in global pageantry. Dominguez will continue promoting social-impact initiatives while carrying the Miss World crown worldwide.
