Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star was vandalised with scratches days after the country music icon died at the age of 80.
The damage was reported after Parton’s death on August 25. However, fans will not have to see the defaced tribute for long.
Crews began repairing the star on Tuesday, September 1, according to CBS Los Angeles and NBC Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed that restoration work was already underway.
Repairs begin after vandalism
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said a fan reported the vandalism on social media.
She added that photographs shared by the fan appeared to show numerous scratches across Parton’s star.
Martinez said the repair work had been arranged late the previous week. Workers had already completed the initial stage of restoration by Tuesday.
The Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the Walk of Fame stars, is overseeing the repairs.
According to Martinez, the star will cure before workers polish it on Friday. Fans will then be able to view the restored tribute.
Parton leaves lasting legacy
Parton received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 1985 alongside actor Sylvester Stallone.
She later became one of the biggest names in country music and entertainment through her music, acting and business ventures.
Her death was announced on August 25, while her team later revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Beyond entertainment, Parton built a major philanthropic legacy through her Imagination Library.
The programme has distributed more than 200 million books worldwide since its launch in 1995.
As crews restore her Hollywood star, fans will soon see a polished tribute to an entertainer whose influence extends far beyond music.
