Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is facing a growing dengue outbreak, with 3,771 confirmed cases and two deaths reported across the province.
The rising infections have raised serious health concerns, prompting authorities to order urgent preventive measures.
Kohat Emerges as Worst-Affected District
According to provincial health officials, Kohat has recorded 2,319 dengue cases, making it the worst-affected district.
The district accounts for more than 61% of the province’s total infections.
The alarming situation prompted a high-level meeting chaired by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Health Nigar Johar, the health secretary, and senior government officials attended the meeting.
Officials reviewed the latest dengue figures and discussed measures to control the outbreak.
Governor Orders Emergency Dengue Control Measures
Governor Kundi directed the Kohat district administration to take immediate action against the spread of dengue.
He also instructed health officials to strengthen prevention campaigns and closely monitor affected areas.
During the meeting, health authorities presented their dengue control plan and explained the factors contributing to rising infections.
The governor expressed concern over the situation and demanded regular progress reports.
Health Authorities Focus on Preventing Further Cases
Health teams continue working to reduce mosquito breeding and prevent new infections.
Dengue spreads through infected mosquito bites. Common symptoms include high fever, severe headache, body pain, and nausea.
Residents should remove standing water from homes, rooftops, and open containers.
Health experts also recommend using mosquito repellents and seeking medical care when symptoms appear.
Authorities are now focusing on controlling the outbreak and protecting vulnerable communities across KP.
