Two months after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), concerns are mounting as both local and international players reportedly continue to await the full disbursement of their payments.
According to reliable sources familiar with the situation, approximately 30 percent of the players’ dues remain outstanding, causing growing frustration among participants and franchise officials alike.
The PSL management initially disbursed around 70 percent of the total payments at the start of the tournament, allowing players to receive a significant portion of their contracts upfront.
However, the remaining 30 percent was contractually scheduled to be paid within one month following the tournament’s conclusion. Despite this clear deadline, the payments have not yet been completed, raising questions over the league’s financial handling and administrative efficiency.
Franchise officials have reportedly reached out to the PSL management multiple times in efforts to expedite the pending payments and bring relief to the affected players. These repeated attempts reflect the urgency and seriousness of the situation, as unpaid dues can significantly impact players’ livelihoods, especially for those relying on PSL earnings as a major source of income.
The delayed payments have sparked dissatisfaction among players on both the domestic and international fronts. Many have expressed disappointment and concern over the lack of timely compensation, which can affect not only their financial stability but also their morale and focus ahead of upcoming cricketing commitments.
In response to the mounting pressure, the PSL administration has assured franchises that the payment issue will be resolved within the next week. While this promise offers some hope for a resolution, the delay itself has already dented the league’s reputation and raised concerns among stakeholders.
As the PSL continues to grow in prominence and attracts global talent, ensuring timely and transparent payment processes will be crucial for maintaining trust and professionalism. Players and franchise officials alike are now closely monitoring the situation, hopeful that the remaining dues will soon be settled, allowing the league to move forward on a more positive note.
