Civil Service
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Defence is actively pursuing an additional quota within the civil service framework to accommodate injured and disabled officers, on Saturday. This sought-after allocation would be in addition to the existing 10% quota already reserved for armed forces officers in civil service roles through the Federal Public Service Commission.
The ministry formally communicated this request in a letter addressed to the Establishment Division, seeking consideration for a separate quota.
This move comes after a previous letter dated March 29, 2023, which specifically urged the induction of injured military officers into either the Commerce and Trade Group or the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service.
Highlighting the context, the defence ministry emphasized that over the past two decades, numerous young officers across the country have incurred physical disabilities in the ongoing war against terrorism.
These disabilities, resulting from their service, hinder their optimal performance within the military, and due to medical fitness constraints, they are unable to be inducted even within the existing 10% quota.
In its plea to the Establishment Division, the ministry emphasized the need to include war-disabled officers in various professional service groups, with a particular focus on the Security Group.
The objective is to facilitate their placement within the Ministry of Defence, acknowledging the unique challenges these officers face and their valuable contributions despite physical limitations.
This initiative underscores the commitment to inclusivity and recognizing the sacrifices made by military personnel, aiming to provide alternative avenues for their continued service and contribution to the nation.
The outcome of this request could potentially pave the way for a more comprehensive and accommodating approach to the integration of war-disabled officers into civil service roles.
