FAISALABAD: The death toll in the glue-making factory blast in Faisalabadโs Malikpur increased to at least 18. Four children and two women are among the victims of the boiler blast this morning. Residents of the area described scenes of panic as the shockwave shook nearby homes. The boiler explosion left families confused, terrified, and searching for missing family members.
Rescue teams confirmed that the explosion triggered a fire inside the factory. Emergency personnel worked to control the blaze while clearing debris from the collapsed structure. Rescue officer Ehtesham Wahla said ten nearby houses suffered structural damage, including shattered windows and cracked walls. The intense fire required 15 fire tankers to contain the flames.

Injuries and Hospitalization
Rescue teams shifted injured people to the hospitals for treatment. Three victims were admitted to Allied Hospitalโs Burns Unit. Hospital officials reported that seven patients remained in critical condition. The commissioner added that three injured individuals were discharged after receiving initial medical aid. Among the victims were four members of the same family. Rescue workers recovered the body of a young girl from the rubble.
High Industrial Density and Safety Concerns
Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir said the factory was around 25 years old. Residential areas gradually developed around the industrial site over time, creating densely populated neighbourhoods. He noted that the settlement hosts about 100 small factories, complicating safety monitoring and emergency access.

Authorities said the blast originated from the factoryโs boiler, though a full investigation will determine potential negligence or safety violations. A poilce team has rushed to arrest the factory owner. Rescue teams continued operations despite chemical hazards and damaged surroundings.
Officials warned that industrial zones within residential areas pose significant risks, especially when safety protocols are neglected. Emergency personnel remain on site to clear debris, prevent further fires, and provide relief to affected families.
