Dania Shah attended a hearing in the late Dr Amir Liaquat’s video leak case in Karachi. The Judicial Magistrate Karachi East expressed anger over repeated witness absences.
The court noted that two prosecution witnesses have continuously failed to appear. It subsequently ordered authorities to take action against the absent witnesses.
Court Orders Action Against Absent Witnesses
The magistrate directed the Director General of NADRA to block the witnesses’ identity cards. The court also ordered the Federal Investigation Agency to produce both witnesses by August 27.
Defence lawyer Liaquat Gabol criticized the prosecution during the hearing. He said Dania Shah has travelled from Lodhran to Karachi for hearings for three years.
Gabol argued that the prosecution has repeatedly failed to present its witnesses. He questioned the continued delays despite Shah’s regular court appearances.
FIA Yet To Establish Video Link
The defence further claimed that FIA has not established the alleged video’s origin. According to Gabol, investigators have yet to prove that Shah created or sent any video.
The case concerns allegations surrounding videos linked to the late television host and politician. Authorities have continued proceedings while seeking testimony from prosecution witnesses.
The latest hearing highlighted growing frustration over delays in presenting witnesses. The court’s orders now place greater responsibility on the FIA to produce them.
The next hearing is expected to focus on witness attendance and further proceedings. Meanwhile, the defence continues challenging the prosecution’s evidence in the case.
