Two Counter Terrorism Department officials lost their jobs over alleged links with drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky.ย
Authorities dismissed Constable Ali Qureshi and Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafeel after completing an internal inquiry. Officials said both officers maintained connections with Pinky during previous years. According to CTD sources, investigators examined their activities and communication records. The inquiry revealed evidence that prompted disciplinary action against both officials.
Inquiry Uncovers Alleged Connections
Sources stated that Kafeel Awan previously arrested one of Pinkyโs motorcycle riders. However, investigators believe that incident later increased contact between Kafeel and Pinky.ย
Meanwhile, authorities completed the inquiry report before announcing the dismissals. Officials also detained both men several days earlier for questioning. Investigators formally recorded statements from Ali Qureshi and Kafeel during the probe. Furthermore, forensic experts examined mobile phones belonging to both dismissed officials.
Authorities also obtained details of their bank accounts. Investigators reviewed financial records to determine possible links to criminal activities.
Court Proceedings Continue Against Pinky
Meanwhile, legal proceedings against Anmol Pinky continue in Karachi courts. A Judicial Magistrate granted investigators additional time to complete the case. The court directed investigating officers to submit the challan by June 9. The cases involve allegations related to murder and drug offenses.
In addition, the court scheduled June 8 for recording the complainantโs statement. Officials will record the testimony under Section 164 of the relevant law. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence. Officials aim to complete legal requirements before submitting the final challan to the court.
