ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in collaboration with relevant authorities, has taken action to seal more than 117 car dealerships in Islamabad. This action comes as a response to the illegal practice of parking cars in public parking spaces by these dealerships.
In a recent tweet, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, the chairman of CDA, announced the cancellation of car dealership leases.
The dealerships faced this action because they failed to comply with government directives. The government has issued these directives a few months ago, which required the dealerships to vacate parking spaces..

Back in April 2023, the CDA mandated car dealerships to relocate their showrooms from urban zones.
The presence of vehicle showrooms in G-8 Markaz, Blue Area, and other key parts of Islamabad has been disrupting pedestrian and traffic flow. This situation also hampers other business activities in the bustling areas of the federal capital.
The showroom vehicles not only took up parking spaces but also left no available room for individuals to park their cars and bikes.
A CDA official informed the media that these businesses are operating illegally. He said, “As such, these businesses are being run illegally.”
After a span of three months, the civic agency eventually launched an operation against the car dealerships. As a result of this operation, there are chances of improvements in the traffic and parking facilities within the commercial areas of the federal capital.
