CTD Officials
QUETTA: In a significant legal development in Balochistan’s Kech district, a local court has taken decisive action, directing the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against officials from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) linked to the alleged extra-judicial killing of Balach Baloch.
The district and sessions judge, Abdul Hakeem, specifically instructed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Turbat City to initiate the FIR against the implicated CTD officials and to proceed with legal actions accordingly. This judicial directive came in response to an application submitted by the heirs of the deceased on a Saturday.
The gravity of the situation was reflected in a protest rally that unfolded alongside Balach’s lifeless body. A diverse gathering, comprising men, women, and children, marched from Shaheed Fida Chowk to the Session Court, where they staged a sit-in.
The demonstrators passionately urged the court to ensure justice by registering a murder case against the CTD officials allegedly involved in the incident. The protest garnered support from influential figures, including Haq Du Tehreek chief Maulana Hidayat Rehman, BNP Acting Chief Sajid Tareen Advocate, and others, who expressed solidarity with the grieving protesters.
Even former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, voiced his concerns, demanding a thorough investigation into the killing of Balach Baloch. However, as of the latest report, the FIR had not been lodged, and neither the CTD nor the Turbat police had provided any official statements regarding the court’s directive.
This legal development underscores the pressing need for a transparent investigation and the importance of upholding the rule of law, particularly in cases involving alleged extra-judicial actions. The court’s order signals a commitment to accountability and justice, but the situation remains fluid pending further actions from law enforcement and the legal system in Turbat.
