A local court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 27 doctors and administrative officers of Hyderabad Civil Hospital in connection with the death of a 17-year-old dengue patient last year.
The court directed police to arrest all the accused and present them at the next hearing scheduled for October 27. The warrants were issued after the nominated individuals failed to appear before the court.
The case concerns Hasnain Aamir, who died while receiving treatment for dengue at Civil Hospital Hyderabad. His father, Aamir Latif, subsequently approached the court, alleging negligence and carelessness by the hospital administration during his son’s treatment.
Father Seeks Legal Action Over Son’s Death
Following the father’s complaint, a case was registered at Market Police Station last year. The case was lodged under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with punishment for murder.
The complainant alleged that shortcomings in the medical care provided to his son contributed to the teenager’s death. He sought legal action against the hospital’s doctors and administration, prompting proceedings in court.
The allegations have placed the hospital’s treatment procedures and the conduct of its medical staff under scrutiny. However, the accusations remain subject to legal proceedings, and the issuance of arrest warrants does not establish the guilt of the nominated individuals.
Court Sets October 27 for Next Hearing
The court has directed police to arrest the 27 accused and produce them at the next hearing on October 27. The proceedings will determine the next steps in the case as authorities continue the legal process.
The case has also renewed attention on accountability in public healthcare facilities, particularly when allegations of negligence arise following a patient’s death.
Further developments are expected as the court considers the matter and the accused are brought before it.
