A Karachi court has granted police a seven-day physical remand of three suspects in the Dr Akash murder case. The order will allow investigators to continue questioning the accused and gather additional evidence.
Dr Akash was killed during an alleged robbery in Karachiโs Frere area after resisting a cash-snatching attempt. Police are still searching for the remaining members of the suspected gang.
The suspects, identified as Anil, Ram Chand, and Suresh, appeared before the court under strict security arrangements. The court also directed police to submit a progress report at the next hearing.
Police Continue Investigation Into Alleged Gang
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Hassan Bhatti requested an identification parade for the accused. He also informed the court that three additional suspects remain at large.
According to investigators, the gang was allegedly led by Aslam, also known as โBaba,โ from Quaidabad. Police claimed he supervised the operation while travelling in a vehicle with several accomplices.
Investigators alleged that the suspects followed Dr Akashโs vehicle before carrying out the robbery. Police believe the attack was planned in advance.
Police Trace Stolen Money
According to police, the suspects admitted dividing the stolen cash immediately after the incident. One accused allegedly received Rs125,000 before transferring the amount online to his brother, Kishore, in his native village.
Investigators also claimed that suspect Ram Chand met Aslam in Landhi Jail in 2021. Police alleged the pair later formed the gang during their time in prison.
Authorities said efforts are continuing to arrest the remaining suspects linked to the case. The investigation remains ongoing as police gather further evidence and pursue additional leads.
