Jinnah House Incident
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore recently heard the bail petitions of Aleema Khan regarding the May 9 cases. During the hearing, the court dismissed the interim bail in the Jinnah House attack case after it was withdrawn. However, in a major legal relief, the police investigation report declared Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan innocent in the case.
The investigating officer presented the report in court, stating that the inquiry against the two had been thoroughly conducted and concluded that they were not involved in the Jinnah House attack. Based on these findings, the court officially recognized their innocence in the matter.
Speaking to the media outside the court, Aleema Khan expressed her relief and gratitude, saying, “After 20 months, Allah has vindicated us. I have learned a lot about this system.” She further emphasized that the authorities had confirmed she was not wanted in any of the May 9 cases, putting an end to the legal uncertainty she had faced for nearly two years.
Aleema Khan also voiced her concerns over the prolonged judicial proceedings, criticizing the delays that led to unnecessary suffering. “I pray that no one, not even an enemy, has to endure such suffering. If the investigation officer had appeared on the first day, things might not have reached this stage,” she stated.
She highlighted that the absence of proper case records and the inefficiencies in the judicial process had forced her to endure court hearings for nearly two years, despite her innocence.
Addressing broader issues in the legal system, Aleema Khan pointed out the flaws in the investigation process. She stated, “Due to the negligence of investigation officers, many people have suffered unjust sentences.”
Her remarks reflect the growing concerns over delayed justice and procedural inefficiencies in high-profile cases.
The declaration of Aleema and Uzma Khan’s innocence marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the May 9 incidents.
While this case has reached a resolution, several other cases linked to the May 9 events remain under trial, and their outcomes are still pending.
