ISLAMABAD: A special court granted permission to former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan today, to communicate with his sons.
Khan, who is currently under judicial custody until September 13 in the cipher case, has been confined in Attock prison since authorities arrested him on August 05 following a trial that found him guilty in the Toshakhana case.

Law enforcement took him into custody and moved him to the prison on the same day of his conviction by a trial court in the federal capital on corruption charges.
On August 29, the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentence of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in the Toshakhana case.
While Imran khan was in Attock jail, the special court placed him on judicial remand on August 16. Later the special court extended this period by another 14 days.
Imran khan granted approval
PTI chief filed a petition before Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, through his attorneys Umair Niazi and Shiraz Ahmed, requesting permission to communicate with his sons Qasim and Sulaiman via telephone.
“I want to talk to my sons Qasim and Sulaiman on the telephone or via WhatsApp,” he appealed. The court granted the approval.
The judge instructed Attock Jail officials to organize the necessary arrangements for the father to have a conversation with his sons over the phone.
It’s worth noting that during Imran Khan’s government in 2018, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was denied the chance to communicate with his ailing wife. She was then battling cancer in a London hospital.
Begum Kulsoom Nawaz passed away in September 2018 in the UK capital.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and other party members have brought up this situation on several occasions. They criticize the PTI government for its perceived “cruelty.”
