ISLAMABAD: General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, has assured the Balochistan government to provide full support in their efforts to crackdown on illegal activities within the province.
The army chief made these remarks during his attendance at the apex committee meeting, which caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar presided over in Quetta on Tuesday. Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Ali Mardan Khan Domki was also in attendance.

The interim government initiated a crackdown on hoarders, electricity thieves, smugglers, and those involved in hoarding last month, aiming to improve the economy. This action followed protests against high utility bills and the devaluation of the rupee in the financial market.
Officials at the meeting provided the forum with updates on the revised National Action Plan, law enforcement operations, anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics efforts in Balochistan, the security of foreign nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor/non-CPEC/private projects, the repatriation of illegal foreigners, foreign currency regulation measures, and the progress of SIFC initiatives in Balochistan.
Balochistan Unites for Progress and Prosperity
The interim prime minister expressed confidence in the progress achieved by the Balochistan government and pledged the full support of the federal government.
Kakar stated, “Ensuring peace and development in the province requires the socio-economic development of Balochistan.”
The army chief was quoted as saying, “The army, in cooperation with LEAs and other government departments, will fully support enforcement actions against a range of illegal activities to prevent the loss of resources and economic damages suffered by the country.”
The premier also stressed that the initiatives initiated by the SIFC at the federal level should have a positive impact on each province for the benefit of the local population.
Kakar further emphasized that Balochistan possesses rich mineral resources, and development in this sector would stimulate economic activity and job opportunities for the local population. Additionally, investments in agriculture and IT should receive attention, along with human resource development.
The caretaker prime minister underscored the necessity for collaboration among all relevant departments to ensure the positive outcomes of these initiatives. The participants asserted their unity in their efforts to promote the progress and prosperity of the province, involving state institutions, government departments, and the public.
